MICHAEL BALDWIN Hey there — I'm Michael and my life in short. I'm well-traveled as I was adopted from South Korea when I was 3. My early years were spent in Baltimore, MD and I made the long trip out to Hawaii to attend school. After basking in the sun for 4 years in Hawaii, I moved to SF in 1999. Currently, I work for Gymboree in the planning department and I've been with the company for 6 years. Work takes up most of my time, but have a few interests: Astronomy, cooking, following the local sports teams and dining about the town with friends. My adoptive family is Caucasian and my adopted parents have two biological siblings, 1 girl and 1 boy, both older than me. My parents still live in the suburbs in Baltimore in the same house. Growing up — the area wasn't very diverse being 85% Caucasian / 15% African-american, but I led a relatively normal childhood. Oh yeah, I met my biological family in Korea in 2000." |

CHRISTINE LIM My name is Christine Wee Lim. I was born in Manila, Philippines and abandoned by my birth mother at the city hospital. I stayed there until I was a little over one year old and then was fostered by my adopted father's sister until I was 4 years old. I then flew to Cincinnati, Ohio to meet my adopted parents and began my journey. I grew up as an only child in a Chinese household in Cincinnati for the remaining of my teen years and early 20's. Both of my adopted parents were very traditional and disciplined in their ways, but generous with their love for me. They gave me much to be thankful & grateful for and instilled in me the belief that life works itself out in mysterious ways. I look forward to sharing and learning any experiences with you all! |

JENNIFER JUE-STEUCK Hi there! I'm Jennifer, a Chinese adoptee from Laguna Beach, California. My Chinese name means "Precious Jade," and my first language was Mandarin. With the help of generous "Aunties," lawyers, and translators, I was adopted privately from my birthfamily when I was 18-months-old. While I'm a Californian at heart, I spent every childhood summer -- since I was 2-years-old -- with my family on Branch Pond Lake in Downeast Maine, so I have a fondness for New England as well. I've also lived in Manhattan (7 years), Cambridge (MA), and Paris (Rive Gauche, 7th, 6th, and 16th arrondissements). My baby brother, Chris, is a Korean adoptee who now lives in LA. I am proud to launch AMP's sister organization, "Creative Adoptee Links (CAL) International," and I hope to meet you soon at AMP events. AMP is such a special program. Enjoy! |

ZACK KUKOY My name is Zack Kukoy. My Korean name is Lee Kwang Jin. My first memory is of the orphanage taking me to a pebble beach in Busan to catch fish. I was adopted from Busan, Korea at the age of 3, and accepted into a wonderful loving family. A year after my adoption, my parents adopted my sister (non-biological), also from Korea, to expand our family. Although growing up in Colorado did not give me an opportunity to connect with other adoptees or Korean Americans, I experienced these connections when I lived in Korea for three years. I am fortunate to have had an amazing experience, both with my parents, as well as my adoptee friends, who have allowed me to grow into the person I am today. |

JENNI AU LALLIER Hello, I'm Jenni. I was born in Inchon, Korea, abandoned and raised by a foster Mother for the first 12 months of my life. My birth name was Hee Sook Park. My parents (Mom is 4th generation Chinese American and Dad is 5th generation Chinese American) adopted me when I was 1 year old. My full name is Jennifer Chun Yuk Au and my Kung Kung (Cantonese for Grandpa) gave me my Chinese middle name. lt means Spring Jade. My parents told me that when I arrived in Honolulu I responded to the Korean language and smelled faintly of Kim Chee (this is still one of my favorite foods today!). I grew up as an only child in Honolulu, Hawaii. My Dad is a real estate developer and my mom teaches high school algebra and psychology. I loved ballet and eventually grew into playing sports. I attended middle school and high school with one other Korean adoptee. I hope to share more about myself and learn all about you! Adoptee Mentor Program will be a great place for you to meet other adoptees and make many new friends! |

AMY ASHCROFT I was born in Korea and adopted at the age of 4, along with my biological half-sister who was 11 at the time. I'm the youngest of seven children in my English/Scottish American family. I grew up in California, lived in Massachusetts for a several years, and now live and work in San Francisco. Over the years, I've participated in several short-term events for youth and adult international adoptees, both as a mentor and mentee, and I've had many enriching experiences getting to know other adoptees on a one-on-one level. |

ELLEN MOORE I was born in small coastal village, Kunsan (Gunsan) City, where I traveled between orphanages and foster families until my adoption on Vashon Island , WA. My mother is a school teacher, and my father is a retired mechanic. Both of which were born in the US. I have one older brother who was adopted from Tacoma, WA. While we were young we were surrounded by a handful of other adopted Koreans. My brother and I were educated on the island until high school; we then commuted to private school in the city. It was the first time I was the only Korean adoptee at my school. I continued to pursue my education in Boston, MA where I obtained my mechanical engineering degree. I currently work for a medical device company in the San Francisco Bay Area. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning more about their life stories as well as their goals! |
